New Product Launch – PuraStat A Surgical Haemostatic Agent

Diagmed Healthcare Ltd is proud to announce a new partnership with 3D Matrix, a global leading company in developing medical devices based on chemically synthesised self-assembling peptides. 3D Matrix are based in Japan and have distributors in US, France, Singapore, China, Brazil and the Netherlands, we at Diagmed Healthcare Ltd are very pleased to be joining their distribution network.

Diagmed Healthcare will be introducing PuraStat to the UK marketplace, which is suitable for use in surgery, endoscopic, and laparoscopic haemostasis sites. Purastat® is a slightly viscous solution of synthetic peptides.  Upon contact with blood, the peptide solution instantaneously self-assembles to form a soft gel.  This matrix provides a physical barrier to stop bleeding in a variety of surgical and endoscopic indications.

The product has been evaluated by some of the UK’s leading GI consultants –

Professor Bhandari, Queen Alexandra Hospital

“Purastat can be applied in the general area of bleeding and does not require precise application to the exact point of bleeding”

“PursStat was applied over the entire EMR base to reduce the risk of delayed bleeding and encourage healing.  It was really surprising to see enhanced healing and formation of soft scar at the EMR site, 15 days post procedure”

Contact your local Product Specialist to arrange a trial or sales@diagmed.co.uk for further information.

3D Matrix would also like to invite all attendees of the DDW in San Diego to attend a lecture from Professor Bhandari on

Diagmed Support ‘Beating Bowel Cancer Charity’ with the Wolf Run

Since 1999 Beating Bowel Cancer has been saving lives from bowel cancer, the UK’s second biggest cancer killer, by raising awareness of symptoms, promoting early diagnosis and encouraging open access to treatments. As you are all aware,  a vast range of Diagmed Healthcare products are aimed either for early diagnosis or therapeutic treatment of GI disorders, bowel cancer being the foremost, which is why we have chosen to support this fantastic charity.

The team took part in the ‘Wolf Run‘ which is a 10Km adventure race combating muddy fields, lakes and various obstacles in the freezing November temperatures. We had 15 ‘wolves’, who raised over £1500 for Beating Bowel Cancer charity. We also had a cake sale and various events through-out the year.

We will continue to support Beating Bowel Cancer charity with further events in 2016!

If you would like to learn more on the charity please visit their website www.beatingbowelcancer.org.

Padlock Endoscopic Clip – Case Report from Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust

Dr Peter A Paine of Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, has provided a case report on The Padlock Clip providing an effective closure and healing of a refractory gastrocutaneous fistula.

The authors explained their preference for attempting the procedure with the Padlock Clip versus another over the scope clip option due to Padlock’s unique  “circumferential compression and ability to grasp more tissue, providing a more robust closure.” They added, “The earlier endoscopic clips for GCF closure have limited ability to grasp tissue, making procedures technically challenging, with variable success”. They also pointed out that the    de-epithelialisation procedure by surgical excision is likely important for a potential successful outcome.
